Confusion as gunmen abduct DPO in Delta

Delta State was yesterday reportedly engulfed in fear and apprehension as unknown gunmen abduct the Divisional Police Officer, DPO in charge of the ‘C’ Division, Asaba, Mr Valentine Mbalu.

The local police boss was reportedly kidnapped by gunmen between Ekwoma and Umunede on the Benin/Asaba/Onitsha expressway on Sunday afternoon.
The Police officer who was said to be returning from Agbor in his Mercedez Benz, was reportedly taken hostage by the gunmen about 3:40p.m.

A dependable police source who pleaded anonymity, said that the state police command has intensified efforts to rescue the officer.
The officer said that all the police divisions have been ordered to go in search of the victim.

Contacted,  the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Andy Aniemeka declined comment on the matter at press time, saying: “Can we talk on this later? I am in a public place.”
