GAMBIA: President ADAMA BARROW stuns the world, takes another major action to humiliate exiled leader YAHYA JAMMEH
Report reaching our newsroom say President Adama Barrow has taken a bold step to humiliate ex-Gambia leader by reinstating 18 soldiers into the Gambian Army that plotted to overthrow Yahya Jammeh.
The reports further say out of the eighteen soldiers are six soldiers convicted of plotting a coup against Gambia's exiled leader, a military source confirms.
Recall, President Barrow reportedly replaced the country’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDS), Ousmane Bargie, with his predecessor, Lt. Gen. Masanneh Kinteh.
According to reports at our disposal, three other top officers namely Major General Saikou Seckan, Brigadier Generals Alagie Martin and Mamat Cham were reinstated days after the President kicked out four others believed to be loyal to Jammeh.
Military sources also confirmed that “The military high command has in consultation with President Adama Barrow reinstated Lt Buba Sanneh, Private Modou Njie, Lt Sarjo Jarju, Captain Abdoulie Jobe, Lieutenant Amadou Sowe and Buba Bojang in the army.”
Earlier,the above-named six military officers were convicted out of which three were sentenced to death.
However, their appeals were still pending before at the Gambia's apex court before they were reportedly granted amnesty last month and reinstated by President Adama Barrow.
The six men have already begun work, the source disclosed.
