SCORPION AND SERPENT FOR DINNER

May 05 2020 | The Biafra Restoration Voice

What a wicked generation, our generation is so wicked that a good percentage of the people don’t have human feeling for others.  We are besieged by a group of people who are so insensitive to recognise that others are human beings like them. Unfortunately, the present crop political, traditional and even religious leaders fall into this category. Let us use the scripture to guide our discussion this day.

Luke 11: 10-12 (NIV) " For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion?"

The scripture refers to them as fathers, be you a father in the home, in the community, in the church and in government, you are expected to wield some authorities and responsibilities, but unfortunately, we only focus on acquisition of power and its attendant authority without taking cognizance of our responsibilities as leaders and father to the people.  By using the word "father" the Messiah expects us to develop that level of intimacy whereby the people see you as their fathers, because you share in their pain, in their misery, in their joy, in their success and failures.

This insensitive nature of our leaders is what is destroying the population of the country under the sledge hammer of the deadly COVID 19. Let us examine our approaches first.

When the pandemic, the deadly COVID 19 broke out, did we close our land, air and sea borders and even install testing kits to check mate the transition of travellers from the countries that have recorded cases of CORONA virus? No why?  Because some of our elites and their family members, were above the law and some, who already know their corona virus health status refused to be isolated.

The next step was to close the borders and impose lock down, yet some religious and ethnic bigots saw that measure as an infringement on their right and Religious freedom and while some part of the country were on total lockdown, others were busy going  about their businesses without giving a damn to the social distancing policy as prescribed by WHO for the effective prevention and containment of the corona virus pandemic throughout the period of the lock down. You cannot lock people in their houses without food and other palliatives. Assuming the treasury is dry, if they forfeit their allowances; the Legislators alone, their bogus allowance will be able to take care of us throughout the period of the lock down. We are not talking of their loot in foreign bank out.

In June 2018, a Nigerian senator, Shehu Sani bore his mind on the outrageous monthly allowance of members of the Nigerian Senate. While each Nigerian Senator earns ₦162 million ($450,000) annually in allowances, and ₦9 million ($25,000) as basic salary, the American President, for instance, only earns $450,000 (including bonus) annually.

The controversy that Shehu’s disclosure generated only lasted a short while despite the clear absurdity surrounding the monetary compensation of lawmakers." Since it has gone unaddressed for long, many lawmakers are notorious for splashing these monies on political campaigns, which has become unhealthy in the country. It has given a convenient room for godfatherism and deadly politics of interest. But until the procedures for electing lawmakers is changed, bad outcomes like electoral violence, corruption, maladministration will continue to cripple Nigeria’s democracy. (Culled from: African Liberty by Akinyemi Mohammed Adedeji).

They have decided to give us serpent and scorpion in place of food and fish. Even as people are dying in hundreds they are busy looting and banking and burning all the evidences in preparation to the 2023 general election. Why are they risking the lives of the people by calling off the lockdown? They don't want to push the people to the wall, to start demanding for what is rightly theirs. Our wealth belongs to all of us. If the government will guarantee payment and disbursement of fund to everybody to the tone of N300, 000. Many people will agitate for the lock down to continue. Do we have that money in the federation account? Yes, we do a government that paid N100,000,000,000 Billion to Fulani killer Herdsmen as compensation, must be seen by many as wicked to deny her law-abiding citizens common food and ordinary palliatives for the period of the lock down.

Time is now ripe for revolution, as the current crop of leaders political, socio-cultural, traditional, and some religious leaders are already addicted to stealing and looting and will rather die than have you enjoy good roads, electricity, hospitals, pipe born water and good education for your children, it is now imperative to demand for your right through the UN charter on right to self-determination. That is why their families are living abroad because in their perception; Nigeria is not a place to live, it is only good for the business of looting and political criminality. After that they will go and invest in real estate in Dubai, secondly, they feel you are not created to be in the same social status with them.

The dismemberment of the contraption called Nigeria is the only panacea.
